The university was named in honour of Grigol Robakidze, who was a Georgian poet and thinker. 1995 – Establishment of the School of Dentistry
→ Introduced Georgia’s first simulated dental laboratory, pioneering hands-on dental education.
2003 – Adoption of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
→ Became the first Georgian university to implement the ECTS and received A-grade EU monitoring.
2005 – Recognition by the U.S. Government
→ Honored by President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for translating and publishing the Federalist Papers in Georgian.
2008 – Launch of Georgian-British-Hungarian Dual Degree Programme
→ Partnered with Oxford Brookes University, offering joint academic degrees.
2012 – Participation in Erasmus Mundus EMINENCE Programme
