          Why Algoma University

  • Student-centric: Classes are kept small to provide students with more opportunities to participate, ask questions, and receive quality feedback from caring professors. Algoma's professors are always available for help and have an open door policy, plus they will get to know their student's names and dreams and help in every step in reaching them. Further, learning goes beyond the classroom. Faculty believes in providing students with as many hands-on learning opportunities as possible to take what students have learned in the classroom and apply it to real life work situations. Professors prepare students for life after school.
     
  • Campus life: Be a student leader, join a club, compete on a varsity team, or work alongside faculty on cutting edge research. The opportunities really are endless to get involved at Algoma. Students will meet new friends and these experiences will help build up their resume. Plus, their leadership and volunteerism on- and off-campus are recognized on the Co-Curricular Record.   • Facilities: Grow and innovate at the LEED-certified Essar Convergence Centre which brings together teaching, research, and commercial activities in a dynamic atmosphere. Get physical at the George Leach Centre and workout in the gym or field house or participate in athletic activies like badminton, basketball, volleyball, or jog or walk around the indoor track. Relax at The Speakeasy, Algoma University's student centre that operates as a pub, patio, and entertainment hub. And don't forget about the Arthur A. Wishart Library which is an integral part of the overall academic experience, serving as the access hub to learning resources, and especially through providing learner-centered programs in research skills and information access.
     
  • Location: Algoma U’s main campus is located in Sault Ste. Marie, a city of 73,000 people in Northern Ontario. “The Soo”, as locals call it, has all the amenities of a big city – shopping, entertainment, sports teams, festivals, and cultural activities – but without the hassle of traffic. How  lucky to live in a city surrounded by the great outdoors. With Lake Superior and the St. Mary’s River literally just steps from Algoma's front door, there’s always something to do.
• Algoma University Placements 2024
  AP Transfer Credit Eligibility Applicants who have completed AP exams with a minimum final grade of 4 will be eligible to receive university credit recognition for up to a maximum of 12 credits (or two full courses). Your results must be sent directly from the College Board in order to be considered for credit. AP Scholarship Eligibility Scholarship consideration will be based on the grades achieved on the current secondary school curriculum.
