About Us

Indira Gandhi Medical College was set up in Shimla to provide education in the field of medicine to local students, eventually, the college grew and now it admits nearly 300+ students in its various undergraduate and postgraduate courses with nearly 20 specializations for the students. The college is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University and all the admissions are carried out under its guidelines. The college welcomes students based on their performance in NEET UG and NEET PG examinations.

Indira Gandhi Medical College is attached to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. With the institution of Medical college within the State, the hopes and aspirations of the individuals of the state were met with the standards of health services happening and students benefiting with the advantage of staying home and recouping instructional avenues. Medical college then had a modest starting with makeshift arrangements for hostels etc., however, the ecstasy of connexion the Medical college settled in Shimla with its salubrious climate took away the agony., Himachal Pradesh Medical College was renamed statesman Medical College (now popularly referred to as IGMC in abbreviated form) in 1984. The admission facility was redoubled to sixty-five within the year 1978. currently, MBBS seats are redoubled sixty-five to one hundred. 2794 range of MBBS students have passed out from this Medical college until 2014. The Post Graduate courses were started in sixteen disciplines within the year 1981. Now, these area units redoubled sixteen to twenty disciplines. thus far 923 postgraduates and 377 in certification students have passed out from IGMC until date. a lot of PG courses are accessorial from the session 2002-2005 within the specialties of actinotherapy (Oncology) and Skin.
