Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Kadapa was established in 2006 by the state of Andhra Pradesh and its main purpose of establishing this institute is to improve quality health care in this disadvantaged region and to provide access to medical education for all eligible students in the region. The RIMS Kadapa was built over a span of 14 months on 210 acres with closely monitoring the quality of construction and completing the project in a timely manner. In the past, Rims General Hospital was a secondary care hospital, that is a district hospital. Later It was transformed into a tertiary care hospital called Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences. During the current RIMS training phases the hospital remained on the same campus and was later relocated to the current campus. From its inception to the present, has undergone many developmental activities, an ongoing process.
