About Us

  • Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal was the first private medical college in India established in 1953. It got recognition in 1958 by the Medical Council of India & in 2008 from the Government of India. The institute comes under the aegis of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). KMC offers degree and doctoral programs in the discipline of Surgery, Medicine, Super Speciality, Forensic Science, and many more. Admission is done on the basis of entrance exams and cutoff criteria of the institute.

  • Manipal, popularly known as the international university town of today, made its beginning with the establishment of the medical college in the private sector, viz., Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, that was established in the year 1953. It was the first self-financing medical college in the private sector in India, established in a barren hillock that has turned itself to be a green environmental city, with all modern amenities conducive to student learning. Today, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, is a name synonymous with quality medical education which attracts people not only from India but also from other countries of the world. KMC has one of the finest learning environments in South Asia with infrastructure and faculty that support students to hone their skills to become outstanding medical professionals, true to its mission. KMC is recognized by the Medical Council of India and the General Medical Council of Great Britain, the Malaysian Medical Council, and the Australian Medical Council. KMC, Manipal celebrated Diamond Jubilee in the year 2013-14. The institute has strong academic linkages with national and international universities of repute. Many students from countries like UK, Ireland, the USA, New Zealand, Kenya, The Netherlands, and Malaysia regularly opt for elective postings at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, which gives them great opportunities to learn.

    Hostel Fees

  • KMC hostel rooms have a cot, a mattress, a study table, a chair and a cupboard for each student. Every hostel has continuous electricity and water supply, solar heated water facility, water cooler with Aqua guard filters, common telephone, common TV room, common reading room etc. Students can take an independent telephone connection on additional payment. Adequate dining facilities are available and membership of one of the campus messes is compulsory. However, all first year students of health sciences campus are required to dine in one of the messes located in the campus, for health and security reasons. Some hostels have gymnasium and indoor games facilities. Food court caters variety of food to suit all tastes.
