Sylhet city is located in eastern Bangladesh and is well known for its Sufi shrines some of which belong from the 14th century. The climate of Sylhet city is moderate and almost similar to the Indian climate. The minimum temperature in winter is 12-degree Celcius and the maximum temperature in summer is 32-degree Celcius. The tiny museum and the Sufi shrines are the best places to visit when you are in Sylhet
SUST has a campus area of 320 acres which is famous for its natural beauty. SUST has an extensive core curriculum required of all undergraduates. SUST is the first university in Bangladesh to adopt American course credit systems for all departments. The syllabus is always updated frequently to maintain the global standard of education. SUST has a common Central Library with a collection of 180,000 volumes and 300 current periodical subscriptions for all academic departments. The library includes electronic copies of books, which can be accessed from any academic department through electronic local area networking (LAN). Per year around 2000 volumes are added to this library. The library building of SUST is famous for its attractive triangular shape. It has also a free internet browsing facility and rental library program. Additionally, there is also a departmental library in each academic department and a hall library in each residential hall. The students of this university participate in sports for recreation and the finest athletes regularly compete in inter-university games like football, handball, volleyball, basketball, etc.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Hostels 2024
Students at this University are provided with hostels on a sharing basis. Rooms of the hostels are available for students on 2 and 3 beds sharing. Currently, there are 5 halls of residence at the university. Some of the students reside privately near the university area of Sylhet metro. The cost of the hostel for a year will be included in the first years’ fee while taking admission which is approx Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1,09,000.
