The institute is a part of Bhandari Group of Hospitals and Institutions. The institute was established by Dr Vinod Bhandari in 2003. It is named after the Indian yogi and philosopher Sri Aurobindo. SAIMS also has the largest campus among medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh. The institute was recognized as the International Center of Excellence for Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), USA in the year 2012.

  • There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostels consist of separate buildings for UG students, Interns, PG students & PG Superspeciality students. The Residential quarters for Residents, Nursing & paramedical staff and other non teaching staffs are located in the same premises of the medical college & hospital. The rooms of the hostels & residential quarters are well furnished, well ventilated with twin sharing along with airconditioner facility is also provided. Each hostel building has separate visitors room, study room with internet & computer, reacreation room with TV, Music and Indoor game and Gymnasium facilities.
